Choline supports liver function and fat metabolism.

Choline is essential in the metabolic processes of our body. In the form of phosphatidylcholine, it is a component of cell membranes. It is also known as water-soluble vitamin B4.

Cholinecontributes to homocysteine metabolism - it is an intermediate in amino acid metabolism. Choline contributes to fat metabolism and participates in liver function, playing a role in the transport of fatty acids (triglycerides) from the liver to necessary parts of the body.

As we age, the need for choline increases. Since foods rich in choline are of animal origin, choline capsules are a valuable nutritional supplement for vegetarians and vegans. Two ZeinPharma choline capsules contain up to 600 mg of choline.

Because of choline's contribution to normal liver function, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published appropriate reference levels as a recommendation for choline intake. Therefore, 400 mg of choline per day is recommended for adults and adolescents aged 15 to 17 years. In children aged 1 to 14 years, values have been established between 140 and 340 mg. Pregnant women are recommended 480 mg per day and even 520 mg per day for breastfeeding mothers.

The capsules contain choline in the form of choline bitartrate, which is better absorbed by the body.
